Winter jam

I’m still trying to catch up on last year’s canning, so it seems a little crazy that possibly in six weeks I could be planting seeds on this year’s garden. Time to get the freezer cleaned out for sure! Also, we usually get a quarter beef from dad in February, so that makes the need to clean out the freezer a little more urgent.

I made mixed berry jam today, didn’t burn it, go me! I’m always grateful for the notes I make from the year before when it comes to figuring out how many pints I’m going to end up with.

I got some Christmas lights off of the house today. With the weather this year, it may be March before they all come down. The decorations staked in the ground are frozen, and with 1-2″ of snow forecasted to fall Sunday night and a high Tuesday of 12, it looks like they will be staying there a little longer.
