DIY pool cover

“Necessity is the mother of invention”

Putting up a kiddie pool for the kids in the past few years has always turned into a pain after a few days because of mosquitos. So this year I was determined to figure out something, because it’s awfully disappointing and disgusting to take the kids out there and see a pool full of mosquito larvae.

My original plan was to make a pool cover out of mosquito netting, but I had to change that when I couldn’t find any mosquito netting locally.

So plan B.

I have a stockpile of old queen size flat sheets. So I sewed together 3.75 yards of elastic, and then set the sheet over the pool, and secured it with the elastic. Since the sheet is too heavy and sank into the pool, I bought a used tire tube from the local tire place and used it for a float.

It’s not the prettiest setup, but it’s doing the job and I only have $12 of supplies invested it.
